What if one clean pull request could win you an Apple Mac mini?
That’s the challenge behind ROAST MY PR CTF, an in-person coding event happening at GitHub HQ in San Francisco on August 26, 2026.
Instead of asking developers to build an entire AI application in a few hours, this event focuses on something much more specific: finding hidden bugs and writing code good enough to survive a live review.
Participants will use Qodo to investigate repository issues, identify the bugs, submit fixes through pull requests, and try to get those PRs merged. The best merged submission of the night wins the Mac mini.

Your Code Has to Survive a Live Review
The interesting part isn’t simply finding a bug.
Participants will receive repository issues containing hidden problems and use Qodo to help identify them. They then need to fix the issue, open a pull request, and get the change merged into the event repository.
During the live review, submissions will be displayed and evaluated for factors including code structure, logic, edge cases and overall code quality.
That changes the challenge considerably.
A fix that technically works isn’t necessarily the strongest submission. The code also needs to be understandable, maintainable and thoughtfully implemented.
There’s More Here Than the Mac Mini
The event also brings together engineers and community members from Qodo, GitHub, Port and OpenAI.
Before the hands-on challenge begins, the schedule includes talks and a panel discussion. According to the event information, the panel includes Apoorv Jha from OpenAI, alongside Nnenna Ndukwe, Sai Krishna and Baruch Sadogursky.
The actual coding and live PR review runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, when the Mac mini winner will also be announced.
One Important Catch Before You Register
This is not an online competition.
The event takes place at GitHub HQ at 88 Colin P Kelly Jr St, San Francisco, and capacity is limited. The organizers specifically ask people to RSVP only if they genuinely plan to attend in person.
For developers already in the Bay Area, though, this is an interesting opportunity: find a hidden bug, prove that your fix deserves to be merged, and potentially leave GitHub HQ with a new Mac mini.
